Braeden Veasey | Sales Admin
• How long have you worked for Strategic Communications?
I’ve only been with Strategic for 2 months so far, but I’m looking forward to more!
• What was your background prior to working for Strategic Communications?
This was my first foray into office work, but before this I was a cake decorator and baker for almost 10 years.
• What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding or fulfilling?
I’ve always loved problem solving, so when problems come up in my work, I really enjoy trying to fix what’s wrong and solve the problem. It’s like a puzzle!
• What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
I’m still learning new things every day here, so just being open to learn new ways to do something has been key.
• Outside of work, what are you passionate about/enjoy doing?
I still love to bake. I love truing out new recipes and getting experimental with my food.
• What is your current favorite TV Show, Podcast, or Book that you’d like to share with the world?
I’m currently re-watching “The Good Place” again, it’s definitely my all time favorite TV show.
• What is something that people may not know about you?
I love to roller blade. I keep my roller blades in the back of my car just so I am always prepared for any roller blading emergencies.
Matt Jenkins | Software Developer
• How long have you worked for Strategic Communications?
I started here at the end of May 2024.
• What was your background prior to working for Strategic Communications?
I attended ECTC for two years and then transferred to WKU for my final two years. During my first year at WKU I had an internship at Waystar that turned into a full time Software Developer job. After working at Waystar for three years I moved and got a promotion to a mid-level position at UnitedHealth on a contract position, I was there till accepting this position.
• What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding or fulfilling?
Solving a problem I was stuck on is always fun and rewarding. The position allows for a lot of creative problem solving, there is almost always more then one right way to do something.
• What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
Patience. It can be easy to get frustrated when you get stuck on a problem. Learning to walk away for a couple minutes and give yourself a mental refresh is important in those situations.
• Outside of work, what are you passionate about/enjoy doing?
I have a fair bit of hobbies besides developing, I will do development projects for fun outside of work as well. Besides that I enjoy fishing, basketball, and tabletop/board games.
• What is your current favorite TV Show, Podcast, or Book that you’d like to share with the world?
I am currently reading the Riyria Chronicles by Michael J. Sullivan
• What is something that people may not know about you?
I played both basketball and League of Legends of College teams.
Scott Ballard | Structured Cabling Technician
• How long have you worked for Strategic Communications?
I was a 1099 employee in November 2022 and came on full board in January 2023.
• What was your background prior to working for Strategic Communications?
I worked 10 years at Toyota logistics services in Georgetown Kentucky. I worked in logistics for 9 years at the railroad, shipping Ford, Toyota and Honda. I also worked maintenance in a boiler room, hydro demolition on bridges, and construction
• What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding or fulfilling?
Accomplishment of completing a project successfully with the team
• Outside of work, what are you passionate about/enjoy doing?
I enjoy boating at the lake.
